Flippy Flippy

There is something about doing flips that I love.

Here is a video of me doing a backflip off of Jen’s boathouse at her cottage last weekend.

Flippy

This was my first time back flipping and it was cool. I must have done it ten times.

Happy B-day Derek

So this weekend was Derek’s birthday and after a pretty ruff night on friday, we went up to Jen’s cottage for some R&R. Jen has a really great place with a lot of history. It was cool hearing about it from her dad. Also Jumping off the boathouse was pretty wicked. I’ll try to get a video up of me flipping off it soon.
I think we were all pretty worn out from friday night, but we had a blast just chilling out and relaxing.

I have a job interview this week for Rogers, fingers crossed on that one!

I guess that’s about it for now! Short and sweet.

Amazing Art!

Here is an image taken from an amazing gallery of digital photos. The gallery is called “Cambridge in Colour”, Check it out! It’s really neat. There are some interesting tutorials that are way over my head on there too. I’ve also added a link on the right under “ART”.

This is my buddy Chris in Whistler trying to Jib a van. He doesn’t quite make it though.

Kind of graphic at the end.

Wow, No posts for awhile!

I haven’t posted for awhile, this is true.

Although I have been pretty busy, that excuse is getting pretty old. The truth is I just couldn’t really think of anything to write about.

We had a pretty sad week. My Grandma, Lillian, pasted away on the 22nd. It has been a little hard on the family and I know that she will be missed. However, my grandma was very sick and I really think it was just her time. We had a very nice service for her in Aurora on Wednesday. At the funeral my cousins and I played a piece towards the end of the service. I was a little nervous about the whole thing because I hadn’t touched my bass in about a year and a half. But it all wen’t well and I really enjoyed playing. I have decided that I am going to make a serious effort to pick up the bass again.

On Friday night Derek and I went up to Kevin’s parents place for a bit of a party, nothing huge, just about 8 of us. But Kevin has a very nice house so it was pretty fun to hang out there.

Last night I watched “It’s all gone Pete Tong” , a great movie about a DJ that loses his hearing and eventually gets back into DJing using vibration and site as his guides. I recommend it.

I have had my first phone interveiw at Rogers. (I’m trying to get a job doing tech support for home phones) I have my next interveiw the second week of August, so fingers crossed!

And that’s about it. Pretty relaxing weekend really. Back to work tomorrow. :(

So I have been pretty busy this past week and posting has been kind of difficult. But I think a three day break is not that bad.

Last weekend was a long weekend for Canada Day. So after the Cat Empire show on Friday night. I had a whole crew of people heading up to the cottage for Saturday morning right through till Monday night.

It was an awesome weekend. The weather was just about perfect. And everyone that came up got along really well. With fireworks at Dorset on Sunday night and a brand new fire pit right down by the water, I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Good job to Kevin for “borrowing” some inner tubes from work. They were perfect for lounging around in the water. An awesome game of kings in the gazebo was classic too. I hope everyone had as good a time as I did and I can’t wait to do it again.

Here’s a few photos:

I’ve put the rest of the photo’s that I have from this weekend in my photo’s link. I will post the rest as people send them to me.

Ok, on to this weekend. This weekend was My brothers annual BBQ up at my parents place. It was awesome as usual. A lot of key players came by and it was really great to catch up with everyone that I haven’t talked to in awhile. Nothing like staying up till 3 in the morning catching up in your parent’s kitchen. Good work to Drew for having yet another successful BBQ. I know that everyone loves them and I hope they keep happening year after year!

Today (Saturday), Derek, Adam, Gabe, and I battled our hangovers from the BBQ and made the trek out to the zoo. Derek and I got Memberships so that we can go whenever we want for a year. It should be pretty good. We had a lot of fun today as the weather was just about perfect. But we were all a little bit groggy. So tonight I think we will just be staying in.

Oh yeah! I had my parents down for dinner on Wednesday night. That was pretty fun. Derek cooked a mean roast and I think my parents were pretty impressed. It was good just to hang out with them down here.

I guess that’s it for now!

The Cat Empire

I went to see The Cat Empire on Friday evening. It was an early show which was pretty much the only bad thing about the whole show!

We had a pretty big crew going and most of them came down to our place (the 157) for drinks and to hang out before the show started. Then it was a short ride to the Mod Club for the show.

We got there just as the opening band, “Nine Mile” was finishing. The only song that we caught of their set was “the redemption song”…perfect perfect. They sounded pretty good…acoustic and percussion. I would have liked to hear more of them, but I think that when it’s an early show, then openers kind of get screwed.

The Mod Club is an awesome club. I had never been there before and I was very impressed. Nice atmosphere, and cool lounge area upstairs. Good sight lines and sound. Plus the bouncers seemed pretty normal, not power-tripping A-holes.

So back to Cat Empire, at the beginning of their set they mentioned that they had had a really big day of traveling, and I noticed that they were a little bit short on the energy. I was worried that they would not be up to standard because they were tired. But they proved me wrong! I would like to think that it had something to do with the awesome turnout that they had. They defiantly became more energetic as the set progressed.

I think the highlight of the show was the scat/trumpet solo towards the end. That and the encore were icing on the cake, with the crowd losing it on the last song, The Chariot.

All and all it was an awesome night. A little early for the show, but a great performance. I will defiantly be seeing them again in November.
